Absolute worst out of state experience of my life. Two of us hunted with Charles for 3 days and we did not fill a single tag. We only actually hunted 4-5 hours out of each day. The rest of the time was spent riding around and sitting in the truck while Charles conducted personal business. The first afternoon we stopped at a tribal administration building and sat in the truck for over an hour and a half. Charles left us in the vehicle with no explanation. After that, we went to a part of the reservation that he clearly was unfamiliar with. That wasted a good chunk of the afternoon, then went back to the area that he knew entirely too late in the day. The next afternoon was a carbon copy of the first with Charles stopping to talk to ranchers and leaving us in the vehicle for 45 minutes. The turkeys were henned up and tough to work, but I feel like we would have filled at least part of our tags if Charles would have put more effort into doing his job. He seemed more interested in looking at his phone while driving while listening to loud music. He stayed on his phone the entire time texting or using social media. I have been on several guided hunts in different states and guided hunters myself in Alabama and Texas. Charles ran by far the worst operation I have ever seen. He did not fulfil his obligations to put us on turkeys nor did he provide/ pay for meals as advertised. Horrible experience. The 18 hour drive home was even longer because of the bad taste in our mouths over the piss poor experience. The trip cost me a week in lost revenue, so it cost far more than the cost of the hunt and tags. The whole experience was so bad that it has turned me off to out of state hunts all together. I was completely misled when I booked because I was told that the dates we booked were the absolute best time to be there. I will not be back and I will also make sure everyone I know or talk to knows who not to book with.

John was great. We did a mix of stalking and stand hunting. John had some great stories and provided a lot of history to go along with the vast knowledge that he had about the area and the animals.

***I see you are still recommending Paha Pesto on your guide service for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. I have sent you many warnings about the dangers for white people in this area, according to Paha Pestos head guide. I have sent you the photos of the beating I took.

We are sending out demand letters before moving forward with the lawsuit against the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and Paha Pesto. Simply put, it seems to be dangerous for white people. The hatred for white people was clearly articulated by the long-term head guide of Paha Pesto, who we later found out was a wanted fugitive being harbored. We know this because the outfitter lied to us about "Charle's" name when we paid to hunt the reservation grounds. We found this out in the police report that led to a warrant for Charlie's arrest. Is there anayone I should contact? I sent out packets of my intentions, but was ignored. At this point, I have to hire a lawyer. Between injuries and ruining our annual hunting trip out west to the Indian Red Bux Sioux Tribe hunting grounds, I am out $8,000. Sure, I was demanding like $30,000. I am writing to state my losses and intentions.

Is there one last person to request my demands from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe? Terry Mauer of Paha Pesto has ignored my every request.

Essentially, his head guide came in drunk at 4 am. We were getting out of bed and his head guide said, "We are not your fucking maids." He then head-butted me, punched me in the face several times." I went down like a sack of potatoes (I am disabled.) I could not see for days. I was bleeding everywhere. The concussion from the rifles was too much for my eye to handle (and we shoot custom supressed rifles.) Paha Pesto did not even apologize. He did not even offer $1,000 off my next hunt. To his credit , he brought in a different guide so my friends could continue their hunt.

He was mad because we left a dish out in the living room the night before.

Now, there are bigger issues if outfitters are hiring people, not withholding taxes, etc. I am just a 50 year old Ph.D. Candidate school teacher with $50,000 in debt. My demand letter of $8,000 is the breaking point and reasonable. If the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and Terry Mauer do not agree that is reasonable, that is my best offer - I will have to hire a lawyer that deals with federal cases.

Thank you for your time.

Due to the guides knowledge and hard work we had a very successful hunt. Even if we had not harvested birds, the experience itself will be unforgettable.

I paid for one day service to hunt Prairie dogs on the rosebud reservation. My hunt was 10 minutes long, I killed one Prairie dog, and received a $700 ticket. Mike still demanded payment for a full day and did not take responsibility or represent anyone in our party to the wildlife officials. We believed we were lega,. I believe we were set up.

Mike brought our group to a Prairie dog town next to the highway and left us. Within 10 minutes wildlife officials arrived and all four of us received $700 tickets. After a 10 minute hunt, our hunting privileges on the rosebud reservation were revoked and lost for the year. Mike still required us to pay for a full day hunt. Hunting on the reservation was a set up for extortion.
