Mike found some really good prairie dog shooting for us and offered great advice, guidance and assistance to our group. He is a good man and guide.

Cliff is one heck of a guide! Very pleasant and easy to work with. He knew where to go to find the Prairie Dogs. (Plus how to handle rattlesnakes. Yuk.)

Steve was a no show. did not even call to let us know or to get another guide. Had to lose one day of hunting and go to the tribal office to search for a replacement guide. Watch out!!!!

This guide promised to guide us on praire dogs ! We confirmed the night before on where when and time to meet !! the next day ....No show !!! Did not answer any of his phones all day ! Did not return any calls all 4 days there !!! Would not recommend this guy at all !!!

I had a large (6) group of first time prairie dog hunters not really knowing what to expect, pre hunt cliff was very informative on what gear to pack and ammo types etc. Once we arrived in the area Cliff went over and above to make sure we made it to and from the field. He put us on more dogs than we could possible engage. Our group was very impressed with Cliff's hands on approach in spotting, reloading mags and when we wanted to kick back and talk about the history of the area he was very knowledgable. Our group will be back for years to come and I would certainly be sending friends and family out to his very capable hands. Thanks Cliff we had a BLAST!!!

Excellent professional guide. Had a successful antelope hunt and was also my first big game kill. Gerald even dressed the doe for me. Would recommend to anyone!!!

Beware Elk Hunters -
I called Nik, explained this was my wife's cow elk hunt and I wanted this to be a great experience for her. Asked his guide fee - which was $300/day. This was twice what most guides were charging, but he said he was 100% and he just got a cow elk for his dad that weekend. Sounded good. Most guides were saying that the elk were slim.

First day - he was 45 minutes late because he forgot to put on his hunting boots and had to turn around and go back to Winner to get his boots.

When he was chatting with my wife, he told her we were his first paid elk hunters he's guided. Maybe, the 100% were deer or turkey hunters.

Never saw cow elk that morning or afternoon. Saw a couple young bulls. Turns out, the cow elk he got his dad was from a corn field. He was hoping the corn was still standing and the elk were still there. That evening, we found out they were starting to harvest the corn as we were hunting. We saw the heads of a bull and a few cows at sunset at the end of the field, but they never came out during legal shooting hours.

The next day, he was late again. He had a plan to go to an area of standing timber where we had been the day before and catch them coming from the river to bed. Unfortunately, he got lost and couldn't find his way back to the area. Either you know the area, or nowadays, you have a hunt app on your phone where you can mark waypoints to get you where you need to be. We had to back out and go completely around the area to get in during daylight. Got there at 0830. So much for getting there before sunrise to set up. Never saw a cow elk. Glassed until 1030, and he decided to go to another area. I asked him if he had scouted the area. He said that he had - he saw some elk there during turkey season, hadn't been back since.

I was getting a real bad feeling by then and was getting pretty perturbed how things were turning out. I asked him then, what his plans were for the evening. Long silence - He came back and said we were done hunting because of my poor attitude.

You know what, I was pretty perturbed. I think anybody who pays for a guide has the expectation that they 1) know the area they hunt or use maps and applications to assist in familiarizing themselves to the area 2) do pre-scouting of the areas they hunt 3) get us where we need to be, when we need to be there, 4) don't have all there eggs in one basket, meaning the success of the hunt is based on animals being in a confined area that could change at anytime, particularly when it comes to crops in October.

Lastly, have you ever heard of a guide use a cow/calf call hanging his arm out the window while driving along in his pickup.

Needless to say, my wife didn't get her cow elk and we went home that afternoon.

Nik is the greatest guide..He has helped me with my successes for the
past 5 years for deer, antelope, turkey,pheasant and this year the biggest cow elk in the west. He has a keen sense of knowing where to locate
any game and is a very successful hunter.

Always showed up ready to hunt. Everyday we saw deer and had opportunities. Worked hard for us.

We had a successful hunt with Tuffy, havesting 2 very nice 10 point whitetails in the same day. Tuffy went out of his way to accommodate our group on very short notice and went out of his way to make sure we had a successful hunt. He is a very likeable guy that is knowledgeable about hunting every kind of 4 legged animal in his area. I would strongly recommend Tuffy for any big game hunt in south central SD.

We have used Clayton for four yrs. Always on time and hunts hard all day. Will continue to use him..Good guy.

Phil knew exactly where the birds were, and continually put us on them. It was a tough hunt, because the birds would not come to the call very well. I ended up killing both of my birds, because he strategically placed me in great spots. He knew the country very well. If you are looking for a turkey guide I would recommend Phil!
